Foshan Gangyou Ships First Seamless Pipe Batch for India's 3,000-Ton Steel Turnkey Project
September 25 marked a key milestone for Foshan Gangyou Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.-the company successfully sent off the first batch of seamless pipes for its "3,000-ton steel turnkey project in India."
A total of 616 tons of high-standard seamless pipes (covering multiple specifications) were loaded onto the vessel that day. The shipment is expected to reach Mumbai Port, India, via sea in around 20 days. Since the start of this year, Foshan Gangyou has been pushing hard with its "Technology Globalization + Capacity Synergy" strategy. It's leaning on the group's supply chain resources and technical support from its subsidiaries to keep refining how it produces and organizes seamless pipe manufacturing-making the whole process smoother and more efficient.
These exported seamless pipes aren't just standard products; they're tailor-made by Gangyou for the Indian market. Right now, India is ramping up large-scale infrastructure expansion under its "Make in India" initiative-and that means higher demands for seamless pipes: they need better strength, stronger corrosion resistance, and more adaptability to local conditions.
India's hot, humid climate, plus the tough operating environments of infrastructure projects (like oil, gas, and water supply systems), call for products that perform well all-around. To meet these needs, Gangyou Group's R&D team tweaked the products repeatedly:
- They used a microalloying process to boost the steel pipe's yield strength-perfect for high-pressure transmission scenarios.
- A dual-coating process (hot-dip galvanizing + passivation) was added to improve weather resistance. In India's hot, humid conditions, this extends the product's service life by over 30%.
- They also fine-tuned the steel pipe length to exactly 5.8 meters, matching India's infrastructure construction standards. This cuts down on on-site welding work and speeds up construction.
Beyond India, Foshan Gangyou has been deepening its focus on Africa's industrialization needs in recent years. So far, it has exported more than 150,000 tons of seamless pipes to the continent. These pipes are now hard at work in key projects: think Algeria's oil field development and Egypt's Azli Mansour transport hub.
To keep deliveries reliable, the company has built long-term partnerships with logistics firms like COSCO SHIPPING and Maersk. This gives it a shipping network that covers major ports in North and East Africa. Depending on how much cargo there is and how fast it needs to arrive, the team can pick flexible transport options-bulk carriers or containers, whichever works best. For West African routes, the average shipping time has even been cut down to 28 days.
"The African market's demand for high-quality seamless pipes is growing 12% every year on average-especially in oil, gas, and infrastructure," said the company's International Trade Director. Looking ahead, Foshan Gangyou plans to set up a regional service center in South Africa. This center will offer technical consulting and after-sales support to local clients.
What's more, the company will keep designing products that fit different African regions-taking into account their unique climates and geology. The goal? To use more efficient supply chain services to strengthen China-Africa economic and trade cooperation even further.
