This project utilizes plastic-lined composite pipes as the core material for its water supply and heating pipelines, aiming to improve hotel operational quality through new building materials technology. This marks the first large-scale application of such environmentally friendly and energy-efficient pipes in the high-end hotel construction sector in Cameroon.
The five-star hotel project includes 119 guest rooms and suites, a multi-functional conference center, specialty restaurants, an indoor swimming pool, and other diverse facilities, and is expected to become a new landmark for high-end tourism in Cameroon. The selection of plastic-lined pipes was based on a dual consideration of Cameroon's local climate conditions and the hotel's quality positioning.
"Some areas of Cameroon experience hard water and significant temperature fluctuations. Traditional metal pipes are prone to corrosion and scaling, while plastic pipes lack sufficient impact resistance, potentially affecting water supply safety and guest experience in the long term." The plastic-lined composite pipes combine the advantages of both metal and plastic, effectively resisting construction impacts and UV aging. The inner layer of food-grade PPR plastic meets international drinking water hygiene standards, preventing heavy metal leaching and secondary pollution risks. Furthermore, the thermal conductivity of this pipe material is only 1/200th of traditional metal pipes, resulting in significant insulation and energy savings, reducing the energy consumption costs of the hotel's hot water system.
Compared to traditional pipe welding or threaded connections, plastic-lined pipes require no additional adhesives for installation, offering convenient operation and strong joint sealing, effectively shortening the construction period. The use of plastic-lined pipes increased the efficiency of the water supply system installation by approximately 30%, and is expected to help the project complete pipeline engineering acceptance two weeks ahead of schedule. The 50-year maintenance-free characteristic of this pipe material will also significantly reduce the hotel's future operating and maintenance costs.
The application of plastic-lined pipes not only provides a stable and reliable pipeline solution for the hotel project but also sets an example for the application of new building materials in the Cameroonian construction industry. A representative from the Cameroon Construction Association stated that with the recovery of the country's tourism industry and the rise of the middle class, infrastructure projects such as high-end hotels and commercial complexes are continuously increasing, and the market demand for environmentally friendly, durable, and energy-efficient building materials is growing. Plastic-lined pipes, with their advantages of hygiene, safety, corrosion resistance, and convenient installation, meet the development needs of local infrastructure upgrades and are expected to be widely applied in more engineering projects.
