254 SMO Pipe (6 Moly) alloy is rich in chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen, with additions of nickel and copper, and has excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, PRE = ≥42.5. A312 UNS S31254 duplex have a great influencing potential and ductility at ambient and sub-zero temperatures. EN 1.4547 stainless steel pipe produces a weld that has better corrosion resistant properties than its parent metal due to it being over alloyed. SMO 254 Pipe Manufacturers supply these pipes in various shapes and dimensions. Sch40 254 Smo Square Pipe and Alloy 254 Round Pipe are a few examples.

When compared to standard stainless steel A213 UNS S31254 Seamless Tube has a high molybdenum content that increases the oxidation rate during annealing and results in a rougher surface finish after pickling.
Alloy 254 High-Pressure Tubes are stronger than common austenitic grades and are easy to weld. 254 SMO UNS S31254 is considered to be a cost-effective substitute for the alloy with high nickel content and titanium.
To attain maximum corrosion resistant properties A269 S31254 Tube requires post-processing annealing.
HT 254 Smo Pipe are available in ATSM B163/ B167, AMS 5580, BS3074 specifications.
Solution annealing: 1150–1200°C (2100–2190°F), quenching in water. Thin-walled tubes min. 1130°C (2060°F), quenching in air/water.
